Out-of-bounds

I mused around with my thoughts

It wandered a while but found a spot

It finally dwelled on us

So I tried to put my feelings to verse

As a writer that should come naturally

But as a romantic, I’m having difficulty

Because I love who is beyond my reach

I’m not courageous so I observe …

You are kindhearted and sweet

Your laugh is contagious

And the way you look at me …

Or so I think, is captivating

Like I alone matter in the room

But we can’t seem to walk up to the other

And we’ve been at this game a while

Bumping into the other

Occupying the other’s personal space

Going out of our way to help one another

So in my thoughts I forget …

The band on your finger that says
“OUT-OF-BOUNDS”

That my best friend said “I DO” to you

I let you go because of love,

Not that I did not love you…

She just loved you more

In my thoughts I forget …

This game I’m playing will be my end
