The age clock

“Ladies don’t chase after men”
Her whole life she was told
So imagine months after
At just 27, she was reminded
That the age clock had ticked
Which put forward a thought;
To go against her values
In search of a man
Her guess, to pause or slow down
Age’s ticking clock

This age clock ticked
For her mother as well
She wanted a grandchild
To nurture and instill
Morals disregarded by her child
This needed a while,
Definitely not a year or two
Long enough to hear grandmother
Before the earth opened its doors
Welcoming with open arms, her corpse
